JOLI are closer than ever to nut oil free products! We have phased out almond oil and shea nutter butter.
We’re waiting for the current batch of Light Moisturiser & Enliven Facial Scrub to be sold and then they will also be nut oil free!! You will see an [n] ‘nut oil free’ status at the bottom of product description.
JOLI are also almost nearly 100% vegan. Once the current stock of beeswax is finished (any day now) it won’t be replaced and then all products will be [v] vegan!
After that, the only product left to have nut oil phased out is Fancy Cuticle Oil (which, to be honest, could take a while – as this is a slow moving product). The good news is there is no cross contamination in the making of FCO and any other product, so those with nut allergies don’t have to worry about there being traces of nut oil in other products.
UPDATE:
Almond oil and shea butter are now no longer used in JOLI products.
Still waiting on current batches of Lip Balm & Moisturising Lip Balm to run out and then all products will be vegan.
I had a customer purchase some products and return them once they realised they contained nut oil; their child is highly allergic to anything nut oil related.
Of course, this got me investigating what are all the nuts one needs to avoid if they have nut allergies.
I found this list.
* Denotes the allergen ingredients JOLI use – being phased out.
NOTE:
Not everyone with nut allergies will be allergic to all these things, however, it is a comprehensive list and well worth nothing.
The nut allergens JOLI used were almond oil, coconut (though it was noted that this product in particular didn’t always affect those with nut allergies), macadamia (Fancy Cuticle Oil), shea and walnut.
Now that almond and shea have been phased out (walnut was phased out a while ago) products are one step closer (or one step away) from being 100% nut oil free.
Are there ingridients on that list you are not allergic too?
Have I missed any nut related ingredients you are allergic to?
Has it been hard trying to find products that don’t contain ingredients you’re allergic to?
Other things customers have also expressed allergies to are coconut oil (though not other nut allergens) and lavender essential oil.
